On the 10th and 11th of October we attended this technology conference in Tampere Hall called Mindtrek. There many different people and comppanies gathered together to discuss and trade ideas regarding all kinds of different fields of technology ranging from little AI robots to creating a startup nation and its benefits.
During Mindtrek i attended several different lectures, but quite quickly released that this whole event wasn’t really for me. It was more about the academic side of thecnology and the theories behind it and since I’m more interested in the visual side of things, there wasn’t really much to offer. There were still two people whose speeches I was still really interested in, just because of the people speaking: Peter Vesterbacka and Vít Jedlička (who in the end couldn't even attend).
Since there wasn’t really anything too interesting going on most of the conference, we had a lot of free time to roam around Tampere Hall. There were many floors to see and places to be but the most incredible one of them all was just outside the room called Riffi. There we found something extraordinary. The the most amazing chairs imginable. They were soft as feathers, smooth as silk and even spun around. They were just all around the perfect chairs in every way. I got so intrigued by these chairs that i had to find out more about them. So I did. I found out that they are from Hobby Hall and are called the Tomeo-chairs. They cost around 300 euros and unsurprisingly have gotten only 5 star ratings all around and are all sold out at the moment. In the comment section of the page there are comments like ”The chair fulfilled all my expectations” by Ritva and ”Surprisingly comfortable to sit in” by Kaarina. Everyone is just praising how perfect the chair is and how amazing it is to sit in. And I couldn’t agree more.
