Thor : The Dark World review

Kuvahaun tulos haulle thor dark world posterSince I wasn’t too big of a fan of the first Thor movie I wasn’t really looking forward to watching this one either. At the beginning we just continued the same old but as the movie went on it kept on building more and more on top of itself making it actually an excellent movie.

We return back to Asgard where Thor is cleaning up the mess all over the nine realms that Loki had caused during his rampage. When the job finally gets done and peace is restored to all of the worlds Thor gets to kick back and celebrate his victories while Loki sits in a small cell looked behind a magical wall. But this joy doesn’t last for long when the dark elves emerge and threaten the state of all nine realms all over again and so Thor with the help of his companions has to try to stop them. But this time he cant do it by himself and needs help from his brother Loki.

The movie has a lot of great small world building elements implemented into it, like the organic futuristic weapons, the black hole grenades and the shield technologies which all make the whole world feel much more believable. While in the first movie Asgard felt just like a huge empty CG city with barely nothing in it this, time it all felt a lot more complete and full of life. This really helps with the immersion and impact of the whole film.

The fighting choreographs and effects were improved on massively as well. Now they felt more meaningful and thought out rather than just this meaningless slapping as it was in the first one. With this being the second movie in line it really highlights everything the makers have learned between these two and so been able to improve the quality of the whole film exponentially.

With that being said there is still a third instalment of the Thor franchise and for what i’ve heard it tops these two any day of the week. So this time I’m really looking forward to the next Thor movie.
