Samuel L. Jackson, Holly Hunter, Craig T. Nelson, Brad Bird, Sarah Vowell, Eli Fucile, and Huck Milner in Incredibles 2 (2018)Incredibles 2 Review

This week we’re gonna have a small break for something that kind of fits the theme but is made by another company and that is Disney Pixar’s Incredibles 2. 14 years we’ve been waiting for this movie after the tantalising cliff-hanger that ended the first Incredibles movie. But I am happy to announce the wait was well worth it.

Incredibles 2 starts off right where the first one left us: Our family of miss understood supers facing off their newfound nemesis the Underminer. After the chaos caused by the battle supers are completely banned and the support they had is now gone. This leaves the family struggling to survive with no money and no place to live. This is until a well known tycoon Winston Deavor gives them a call wanting to collaborate. He offers them a house to live in, a well paying job and the promise to bring back the supers and so the now ecstatic family agrees and starts the operation to bring themselves back to the spotlight. It doesn't take long for a new even bigger villain The Screenslaver to appear and cause havoc all over the town providing a mighty challenge for our heroes.

The movies visuals are just purely stunning. The lighting, the models, the dynamic hair, the clothing, the environment, they all look just amazing. Disney Pixar has really outdone themselves. All the small attention to detail and care they have put in to everything in this movie is astounding. They have also made a lot of improvements in the stylisation of the character making them visually more pleasing. Also the addition of subsurface scattering has made a world of difference making the characters feel so much more alive compering to the old almost plasticy looking characters.

The whole story is also very enjoyable. Even while being a children's movie it offered a lot of action and twists and turns in the story and the characters. The big reveal was quite predictable but the buildup and drama surrounding it was still very exciting. The pacing was done really nicely as well with the action packed chasing scenes being cut off with the comedic scenes of Bob trying to take care of the kids.

All in all Disney Pixar’s Incredibles 2 was truly an incredible movie. It offered everything from comedy to action to drama and entertained the whole way through. It has been a long 14 years of waiting but i really happy to finally see that it has been worth it.

  1. I saw this last week as well and it really is a blast. Especially loved the train chase sequence. The way this movie animates superpowers in action is so pleasing to my eyes 💕

  2. Ohmigod yes! I just saw this earlier this week and boy was it worth the wait! I had chills from the theme tune before the actual movie even started.

Also I want to point out that the short flick 'Bao' that runs before the movie was absolutely adorable.
